Can I spray a small amount of foam insulation around a pipe?
The copper pipe that carries the hot water for baseboard heating travels through walls from rooms to room. Can I fill around the small hole in the wall that it goes through with foam insulation? It would be one more space bugs could be stopped from crawling through. I think they come from the garage and can squeeze through these small gaps that go from the attached garage into the house.
I was just wondering spraying a small amount of insulation in these gaps is any kind of fire hazard?
shouldnt be a problem,,go for iT
If you spray only enough foam so that when it has finished expanding it fill the small gap in the wallboard or baseboard molding, then there is no problem.
On the other hand, if you were to "pump" a half can or more into the wall cavity it is possible that in expanding it could crack your drywall or plaster.
As far as the foam creating any hazardous condition, I don't believe so.
the spray foam insulation is made for this kind of application
