spray foam insulation for my apartment walls?

Hi,
I read some posts about insulating apartment walls and answers were to put up the foam sheets. I’m doing that for my windows and my front door. Works excellent.

However, I would like to use Great Stuff, spray insulation for my walls because if there is already insulation, it doesn’t work very well.

As far as safety goes, what do I need to know before I start drilling holes in the wall?

Both Great Stuff and the sheets of foam will cost me… I wish I could get it wholesale!

Thanks.
OK, I’m convinced it is not a good idea. Your right, it would take a lot of the product and wires to consider… the clincher was reading about fire hazard.

Thanks!

how do i install rigid foam board insulation in my attic, allowing me to leave the beams exposed?

I am helping my sister add insulation to her attic space, she has just purchased a 100= yr old house and wants to leave the beams exposed, sheet rock and insulate in between the beams. Putting extra insulation on wall that gets the most wind.?

I am curious if when building a house if you could reduce energy efficiency by determinig what direction the wind blows the most and adding extra insulation on that wall. An example would be to make the wall that faces the direction with the most wind a 2×6 wall with insulation to match and the rest 2×4 walls. Or maybe making all walls 2 x 4 and on that wall adding 1 inch foam insulation on the outside of the sheathing to add extra insulation. Does anyone know if this would be smart or would it just be a waste of money?

Or does it lose heat?
What are other ways to prevent heat loss?
For a science project I have to create a thermos and I found some insulation foam, would this work?
Any other ideas?

I already have the basic idea of how to make it.

Possible Foam Insulation Problem?

Will spaying foam insulation to the underside of a roof deck cause problems with the adhesives in plywood and OSB? Being that this could cause the plywood to stay near 200 degrees during a summer day i’m beginning to wonder if it’s possible that the plywood would become un-glued or delaminate.

Would it be ok to underlay with thin foam wall insulation on a ceiling?

I have 12’ ceilings that are solid bare wood tongue and groove boards over studs. I will be covering them with a Finished wood flooring type covering. (seen it done on a home show but over studs) It’s the type that goes under out door siding. Getting in the attic is a problem to add insulation. I can’t see any reason why I couldn’t. Any advice?

Can rigid foam insulation be installed in basements underneath or before strapping?

I saw on HGTV, Holmes on homes, they insulated the basement walls and floor. But I noticed that it hadn’t been strapped or studded yet. They glued the panels on and taped all corners and seams. It looked like a good way to seal the area. But how would you strap and drywall that? You cant just glue and screw the strapping to the 2” foam can you?

Thermoboard or Spray Foam Insulation? max 25mm which is best?

I need to apply some insulation to a concrete ceiling the -topside being exposed to open air, hence its cold in winter on the inside!. I have limited headroom so can only go to max of 45mm inc plasterboard. Which option is best? The room will be heated and correctly ventilated, so I just need to stop the cold air against the ceiling causing the cold, as the walls are insulated.
