Hi,
I read some posts about insulating apartment walls and answers were to put up the foam sheets. I’m doing that for my windows and my front door. Works excellent.
However, I would like to use Great Stuff, spray insulation for my walls because if there is already insulation, it doesn’t work very well.
As far as safety goes, what do I need to know before I start drilling holes in the wall?
Both Great Stuff and the sheets of foam will cost me… I wish I could get it wholesale!
Thanks.
OK, I’m convinced it is not a good idea. Your right, it would take a lot of the product and wires to consider… the clincher was reading about fire hazard.
Thanks!

It would take a very large amount of that spray stuff to do the walls and it expands too much to work for this.
The sheets of foam insulation would be OK, you could cove or paint them so you would not have to put dry Wall over them and you could take it with you when you move out.
We are going to have this installed this spring on the outside of the house and use house wrap too then cover all this with siding.
I had thought of putting some around my walls in the mean time just to get us through the winter.

well first make sure non of the wires are exposed might cause a short while they are wet. and most importantly remember there’s two types of that forms, 1 the one u use on doors and walls it don’t expand much (so the frames won’t go outta shape) and the other one expands way beyond. so use the one u use for doors and windows other wise the dry wall will look bloated, o and don’t get em in you hands mad hard to take them off

Dont do it. If you have a fire you are in big trouble. Go to your local hardwae store and ask about blow in insulation, most have it, and the machine to blow it in. It will cost less and do what you want without the danger of a very hot and uncontrolable fire. Also your insurance company may deny you, as what you want to do is not an acceptable or safe practice.

Any kind of spray insulation is very hard on your lungs and can cause serious damage. I would do some checking around about the product you are about to use. so you know how to protect your self and the other people in your building from getting sick. Running a humidifier will help your apartment feel warmer due to the increased humidity.
