Going Green With Eco Friendly Insulation

As more homeowners turn toward green building and construction practices, the use of eco-friendly insulation and other recycled materials is becoming a popular choice for many. Eco-friendly insulation is designed with organic fibers, eco-friendly fiberglass and non-toxic spray foam, which can even be of higher quality than standard insulation materials. Not only does it help protect the home environment, but the recycled materials have minimal impact on the environment.

Why Eco-Friendly Insulation Works

Eco-friendly insulation helps to clear and purify the air for a dramatic improvement in air quality. Since eco-friendly insulation is made with natural products, fibers, wood and foam, there is a lower risk of emissions and pollutants in the home. This can mean a much lower threshold for toxins and fewer pollutants year round. Newspaper, cardboard and celbar cellulose are an ideal combination in the design of eco-friendly insulation, as these materials can help filter the air and emit little or no toxins into your home.

Eco-Friendly Insulation and the Environment

Since eco-friendly insulation is also made with recycled materials, this can conserve energy and the overall impact on the environment. Using newspaper and cardboard as fillers for eco-friendly insulation means less waste is being carried off to landfills. The costs of recycling these materials for use in eco friendly insulation is often much less than recycling them for other purposes, and this can benefit the environment in many ways. Eco-friendly insulation simply costs less to manufacture, and is a valuable choice for any eco-friendly living space or work environment.

Increasing the efficiency of your home and reducing toxins and pollutants in the air isn’t always an easy task. Even with today’s energy-efficient appliances and equipment designed to extract pollution from the air, there is no guarantee that all the air in the home stays pure and clean for the long term. Eco-friendly insulation is one option for green-conscious consumers looking for improved air quality and reduced heating and air conditioning costs.

How do we remove spray foam adhesive/insulation from outside our camper?

We purchased a camper recently and the previous owners attached a screenhouse and "sealed" the cracks with a spray foam polyeurathane insulation / foam. It turned colored. We removed the screen house and peeled off , to the best we could, the insulation foam from the spray can…however, sticky residue and hardened foam is stuck to the outside of our travel trailer. Any product that may remove it? Really hate the thought of sanding it off and then repainting a 3 year old travel trailer!!!

Spray Insulation

There are some alternatives towards the conventional fiberglass batt insulation. The choices are non fiber glass batts, sprayed fiber insulation, sprayed foam insulation, and insulation blown or foamed via a membrane. The R- value of substance is indicator of its heat resistance. The R-values of most foam insulation items are greater than the R-values of batt insulation. This leads towards the energy efficacy.

The spray foam could be utilized as an air sealant and insulator for that house walls, ceilings and cavities. Specific equipments are utilized to spray the insulator into the wall cavities. After the insulator is sprayed it expands and fills the nooks and corners within the wall cavity. The additional foam from the studs is scraped to let form a uniform cavity from the wall. The wall cavities could be effortlessly filled using the spray foam using the assist of this insulator.

Two kinds of spray foams are obtainable. The first kind is open cell foam (isocyanurate) and also the other is closed cell foam (polyurethane). The R-value of closed cell foams is greater than that of open cell foam.

The sprayed foam insulation is utilized as a liquid. This liquid contains a polymer (usually a polyurethane or urethane that’s modified) and a foaming agent. A nozzle is utilized to spray the liquid within the cavities from the ceiling, wall and floor. Afterward this foam expands to fill each nook and cranny. The sprayed foam is believed ideal for insulation of steel framing and also the outlets simply because it expands into the tight areas also. Because it acts as an air barrier and heat barrier it positively eliminates the require for that air tightness detailing which is essential for that greater efficiency. It also allows you to slim down the use of equipments utilized for heating and cooling. The foam insulations aren’t biodegradable and doesn’t shrink, settle or sag.

Initial the price of sprayed foam material seems greater than that of conventional fiberglass batt insulation. Because the sprayed foam insulation is insulator and an air barrier at the same time its price is competitive with that of batt insulation. This insulation reduces some work like caulking, applying the house wrap, taping joints and vapor barrier. This surely results in reducing the cash you pay for specialized contractors. It even reduces the construction time. Because fiberglass batt insulation is labor intensive and cannot fit in window jambs, rim joist areas, around electrical boxes and small stud bays the spray foam insulation is preferred in such situations. Practically all the spray foam insulators are eco friendly. Most from the don’t contain the hazardous HCFCs, or harmful formaldehyde. The polyurethane insulation is a lot more energy efficient in smaller spaces.

The installation of spray foam insulation requires some specific equipment. It’s much better to contract a skilled installer. These items and services are readily obtainable. The installation price for sprayed foam insulation depends on the thickness from the wall and also the kind from the foam utilized.

Since particular businesses supply a life time limited warranty it’s much better to heck using the manufactures prior to you decide installing spray insulation.
